Design Futures for Girls (DFG)

Design Futures for Girls (DFG) is a six-month creative design and technology programme supporting young girls in Clackmannanshire to explore future pathways into STEM and creative industries.

Through bi-weekly community-based sessions, participants learn design thinking, digital creativity, sketching, 3D modelling, and hands-on 3D printing, gaining practical experience from concept to prototype while strengthening teamwork, problem-solving, and creative confidence.

Key Impact

  • Expands access to STEM and creative technology opportunities for girls in rural communities.
  • Builds confidence, aspiration, and digital design capability through hands-on learning.
  • Enables every participant to create a personal design portfolio and 3D-printed prototype.
  • Leaves a lasting community resource through retained 3D printers for future learning and partnerships.
